Formerly, “Playground DTSA” the newly-rebranded Detention is a boutique drinking and dining establishment. Serving the fine and fun culinary creations in a laid-back atmosphere, we are who and what we are unapologetically. Our work is our art, and our art is our work. From libations to liberation, we are looking forward to welcoming you to Detention.

After a year of diligently and thoughtfully defining Detention, we started off 2022 with a two-week demo and revamp period. The footprint of the restaurant remains the same, at 4,500 square feet, but the guest experience is intentionally curated with the revamped expression, boldly boasting rebellion and style. The newly defined entrance welcomes you with the open Chef’s Kitchen on display. The dining room will boast luxurious booths, mixed textures and mediums, and a neon light carrying over the community battlecry of “you, me, and all our friends”. 

The menu by Executive Chef John Parker plays on nostalgia, an experience that can be just as strong for the guest experience, as it is for the chef curating. The menu is set to rotate seasonally, so you’ll get a chance to know your favorites, while coming back for new experiences as the market changes. Reservations for dinner service will be available Tuesday – Saturday, from 5 pm to 10 pm. 

The bar and lounge area was designed for the cocktail crowd, with mood lighting, vignette seating, and omakase cocktail experiences. Whether you’re having a pre-Trust cocktail or want to keep the drinks going after dinner, the lounge area will be open until midnight for libations and merriment.

Special Sunday Suppers will allow for themed experiences, such as the inaugural Prime Rib night, on January 30th, 2022.

Trust

Trust is an 18-seat culinary theater led by Chef Justin Werner. Trust, formerly known as Playground 2.0, is a ticketed experience, featuring an omakase-style tasting menu with beverage pairings. Pricing includes food, pairings, gratuity, and sales tax. Walk-ins not available.

Dough Exchange
